Danielle Vallée, the professional soapmaker

"La Savonnerie Du Village" is a family business located in Escuminac in Baie-des-Chaleurs in Quebec. You should know, initially, Danielle, the professional soapmaker, worked several years as Controller in a business related to environmental sciences conglomerate. The administration, finance and accounting have no secrets for her.

In 2002, Danielle Vallée and Serge Bourdages decided to realize their dream of leaving Montréal in order to give their daughters Fanny and Sarah an unforgettable childhood. They discovered a farm in Escuminac. The acquisition of their new home included a flock of some fifteen goats. In order to give them the best possible care, Danielle Vallée learned to feed and vaccinate them as well as to trim their hooves with the intention of selling them. As the milk production was important, she got interested in the fabrication of beauty bars made of 100% fresh goat milk. She invested herself body and soul in this new project and, six month after arriving in the Gaspé region, she started producing her own soap that she offered to friends.

In 2003, her spouse Serge and her opened an inn but kept on producing beauty bars. Many tourists had thus a chance to try her soaps. Surprised to realize how much her products were appreciated and in demand, her passion became her craft and trade.

In 2004, La Savonnerie du village: A dream that became reality. She opened La Savonnerie du Village in an old fisherman’s house that was already present on the farm.

In 2005, she started to sell her products in the region’s hairdresser and beauty parlors. With the growing demand, the soap makeress added a wider range of biological products.

In 2008, Danielle established a quite uncommon boutique in an ancestral barn where it is possible to live a unique experience in a genuine agricultural milieu. Customers are now welcomed within a breathtaking scenery between sea and mountains where it is possible to leasurely take one’s time for discovering the beauty bars fabrication process as well as fondle and feed the goats.


In 2014, she was recognized by The Society of Quebec Economuseums Network (international network) for its high quality products and are unique know-how. The ECONOMUSEUM soap born. It is with pride that it offers the public a cultural and educational quality product.
